Saluzzo altarpieceJan Borman studio This huge altarpiece covered in gold leaf tells the story of Mary’s life. What stands out here is the extensive use of the colour blue, the eastern influences in some of the characters and the appearance of a small monkey! The closed altarpiece shows the life of Joseph. Brussels was a major producer of altarpieces in the 16th century. This example was a commission for the private chapel of the Saluzzo family. Year: about 1500-1510
